SPOILER WARNING – May Contain Potential Spoilers For “The Day Of The Doctor”

So here we are Whovians, the wait is almost over and “The Day of the Doctor” is almost upon us, and still more rumours are circulating.

We know that for definite that we have three Time Lords to look forward to on Saturday night, HOWEVER if latest stories are true, our Time Lord count will be increasing to FOUR! In an interview with The Huffington Post, Tom Baker has claimed he is also making an appearance in Saturday’s anniversary episode.  The 79 year old who portrayed the Fourth incarnation of the Gallifreyan from 1974 – 1981 said “I am in the special.  I’m not supposed to tell you that, but I will tell you that very willingly and specifically; the BBC told me not to tell anybody but I’m telling you straightaway.”

Given Steven Moffat’s efforts to keep things under wraps regarding the anniversary episode, I mean come on they managed to keep Paul McGann a secret, I find Tom Baker’s eagerness to voice his involvement a little strange.

Obviously the BBC are keeping things close to their chest and when asked to comment on Mr Baker’s interview they simply said “As with William Hartnell’s recent appearance in the last season finale, anything is possible Doctor Who. But nothing is certain.”

This recent interview is at odds with a recent interview Tom Baker did with Digital Spy where he failed to mention any possibility of making an appearance.  However, as we all know with Mr Moffat and his team, count on nothing until we see it for ourselves.

Tom Baker was a special guest of the Countess of Wessex this week, when an anniversary reception was held at Buckingham Palace.  Peter Davison, Matt Smith and John Hurt were also in attendance, alongside companions such as Catherine Tate.
