Julianne Hough caused quite a stir last month with her choice of Halloween costume.
The blonde triple-threat decided to take her inspiration from her favorite TV show, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. The character behind the costume is Uzo Aduba’s Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, an inmate in the show’s prison setting. Hough decided to take it to a whole new level by utilizing black face makeup to make the costume more authentic.
Aduba has dubbed the whole debacle an “unfortunate situation,” according to People. However, she’s also decided not to dwell on it.
“She has apologized, and let’s just move on. Let’s move on. There are other things we can talk about like season 2 of Orange!”

Yes, perhaps the costume was in bad taste; but I don’t believe that Hough truly had malicious intentions when she chose this costume. I believe that our obsession with political correctness causes us to unfairly persecute otherwise innocent gestures.
So here’s to Hough and Aduba: may we never hear about this ordeal again!
