U2 have released a lyric video for “Ordinary Love,” their single for the Mandela biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
This is the first new U2 song in three years and is 3 minutes and 39 seconds. The single talks about fighting for love and includes the lyrics “I can’t fight you anymore, when it’s you I’m fighting for.”
The biopic, which stars Idris Elba, tells the story of Nelson Mandela’s civil rights journey, from being imprisoned for 27 years to then being elected president of South Africa.
Elba recently told reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival that playing this role was a challenge.
“There were massive challenges, huge challenges. Everything from the performance aspect, I don’t look like Mr Mandela, how do I encapsulate this man?” Elba said. “It was important we had both sides, the good and the bad,” Elba continued. “I didn’t want to deface Mr Mandela in any way, but I didn’t want to portray him in a way that wasn’t honest.”
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom premiers November 29th in the US. Watch the lyric video below:
