The third season of American Horror Story: Coven hasn’t even finished itself out, but Jessica Lange is already planning to leave after season four. Lange revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that, “It just ends up being a lot of time during the year being committed to something.”
She continued, “I haven’t done that for a long time. It’s like doing a stage play between the rehearsal and the run. This is a six-month commitment every year. That will be four years in a row. I want to have more time to myself I guess. Once it’s over and I have a full year ahead of me with nothing to do, who knows? It might not have been the best decision, but I think four years of doing something is a sufficient amount of time.”
Co-creator of the show, Ryan Murphy, has already been hard at work, planning Lange’s leave. This much we know so far: It will either be shot in New Orleans or Santa Fe. He also informed Entertainment Weekly that even though her character won’t be playing the lead role, “she’ll have this great juicy part.”
Lange has played Fiona Goode/Sister Jude Martin/Constance Langdon since 2011.
It seems that though Jessica Lange will be leaving, she’ll be doing it with a bang.
American Horror Story: Coven is still freaking people out week after week on FX on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST. The next episode will air Dec. 4.
