Fringe actress Orla Brady will be featured in the Doctor Who Christmas special.
Brady will be acting opposite current Doctor Matt Smith in the episode, which will also feature Smith’s last performance as the bowtie-wearing time traveler. It has been confirmed that the entire episode will revolve around Brady’s character and that she is someone from the Doctor’s past.
The actress has previously appeared in BBC One’s Mistresses and Sky1’s Sinbad.
It has also been revealed that the Doctor’s classic villains the Cybermen will once again pose a threat to independent life forms everywhere. Earlier today the first promotional photo for the special appeared online, which featured the Doctor holding the decapitated head of a Cyberman.
The newly named Doctor, played by Scottish actor Peter Capaldi, is also set to make an appearance in the episode. Capaldi is the 13th actor to play the quirky Gallifreyan, excluding John Hurt’s pseudo-timelord from the 50th Anniversay episode.
The Doctor Who Christmas special will premiere on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC America.
