Olly Murs has revealed he’s been in a secrete relationship for just over a year now.
The pop sensation revealed to Mirror’s Notebook magazine that he has been dating 24-year-old Francesca Thomas, whom he’d met during last year’s V Festival.
There has been speculation that the two were dating, as they have been seen together throughout the US and Dubai since last year.
“Now everyone knows I have a girlfriend, but being in the public eye can ruin everything,” he said.
Murs commented on the difficulty of keeping his relationship a secret because Thomas is not a celebrity.”
“It’d be a bit different if I was dating a celebrity, but I want to give this a chance to blossom,” he commented. “And being in the industry makes it a hundred times harder.”
The X Factor star compared his relationship with his fans to those of fellow X Factor runners-up, One Direction.
“I don’t think my fans will be upset. If each member of One Direction can have girlfriends and be okay, I’m sure I can.”
“I’ve been dating girls the whole time. In four years, there haven’t been any stories about me. People even questioned my sexuality because of it,” the star mentioned.
Murs recently released a special edition of his latest album, Right Place Right Time, on November 25.
