Fans of High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens have something else to be thankful about this holiday week. The first trailer has been released for her latest film, Gimme Shelter.
Also starring Rosario Dawson, the film follows Apple (Hudgens), a pregnant teenager who has managed to escape from her abusive mother (Dawson). However, that is just the start of her troubles. She turns to her wealthy father (Brendan Fraser) for assistance, but is looked over. She ultimately ends up in a homeless shelter where she is finally able to find acceptance and comfort.
James Earl Jones and Ann Dowd round up the all-star line up with Ron Krauss writing and directing the film.
Hudgens has spoken about the role as being “an amazing journey and an actor’s dream.”
Gimme Shelter is in US cinemas on January 24, 2014.
