While the Fifty Shades of Grey film is slated for a Valentine’s Day weekend release in 2015, author EL James is “terrified” of her erotic romance novel being adapted into a major film.
James is under immense pressure for Fifty Shades of Grey to be a success. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, James explains, “I’ve been terrified from the moment I published the book. My mother was terrified of everything, and so am I. It’s a terrible way to group up. You don’t expect this kind of success. My only ambition for the books was to see them in bookstores.”
She has also wants to make sure fans of the book also like the film. “And there is this passionate fandom; we need to get this right for them.” While she had initial doubts in making Fifty Shades of Grey into a book, she knew she had to take a chance in what might be a once in a lifetime opportunity. “Let’s go for it. Let’s see if we can have some fun with it.”
Only time will tell if Fifty Shades of Grey will live up to the hype and be as popular and successful as the Twilight Saga and Hunger Games films.
