Ever since his cameo appearance in Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor, excitement for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor is growing and growing. We will all be sad to see Matt Smith leave, but the new stance on the infamous character is certainly going to be an interesting one.

Steven Moffat has described Capaldi’s Doctor as an ‘old beast’ whilst talking to Flicks and the City. He went on to say: “He’s got a great love of the part. The moment you think of Peter Capaldi and that face in the TARDIS, that works and everybody gets that.

“He’s going to give us a whole new kind of Doctor. We’ve got used to two brilliant iterations of the younger, more popular Doctor and they have been superlative, but now it’s time for the old beast to snarl at you for a bit!”

Speaking to reporters at the Official Doctor Who Celebration in London last weekend, he said: “People keep talking about this ‘elderly’ Doctor that we’ve cast… he leaps around the place probably more than any other Doctor in that first scene.”

Judging by the small glimpse of facial expression seen on the 50th Anniversary show, Capaldi’s character will definitely pack a punch. A few fans are worried that there will too many snarls, but are nonetheless excited to see how it turns out.

Capaldi’s Doctor will debut on December 25th in the Christmas special, The Time of the Doctor.
