Obviously avoid this article if you don’t want spoilers from last week’s episode!

It appears that it wasn’t just us fans who were more than a little gobsmacked to see our favorite peg-legged gent get decapitated by a psychopath with an eye-patch on Sunday. The man behind the peg-leg, Hershel’s Scott Wilson, has revealed he was hugely disappointed in how his character’s journey on the show came to an end.

After learning about his upcoming exit on the hit AMC show’s mid-season finale, Wilson had a meeting with The Walking Dead showrunner, Scott Gimple.

“He called me into his office and I went in and talked to him. He explained to me that I was going. I said to him, ‘I think you’re making a big mistake, but it’s yours to make and I’m not going to try to talk you out of it’.” Wilson revealed all this to Entertainment Weekly after the episode aired.

This isn’t to say that Wilson bears a grudge over the storyline, though. Far from it, Wilson insists he respects Gimple and the show for the way they handled the changes this season.

“Someone from the show was going to go,” Wilson continued. “I would not want to be the one to make the decision that he had to make there. I respect him for how he told me, and I am grateful for the scenes and episodes they gave me before they took me off. So, it’s all good.”

Gimple took over as showrunner prior to the series’ fourth season this year after Glen Mazzara stepped down. The Walking Dead will be back on our screens in February and you can already check out a promo for the second half of the season below.
