Two days ago UK Olympian Tom Daley took the brave step of taking to YouTube to announce to his fans and supporters that he had found love and was currently in a relationship with a man. Though he didn’t mention anything particular about the man in the almost 5 and a half minute video, reports are emerging that Daley is dating Oscar-winning screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black
Black, who at 39 is almost twenty years Daley’s senior, garnered an Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Milk and also wrote the script for 8, the play about the federal trial, Perry v Schwarzenegger that led to the overturn of California’s Proposition 8. Black is also a prominent LGBT activist.
The couple were spotted together in Hollywood last week, grabbing a coffee at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. A friend of Daley’s told The Sun: “He’s besotted with Dustin. They love each other and aren’t concerned what anyone says about age difference. Dustin is very proud of Tom for making such a powerful statement about his sexuality. They are officially in a long term relationship and are talking about having a future together.”
While in his video, Daley said that his life “changed massively” this past spring when he met his partner, reports suggest that the pair were introduced at London’s Soho hotel over the summer. It is believed that since then Daley has split his time between London and Black’s home in LA.
Daley’s announcement has been generally well received. He expressed his thanks to his supporters via Twitter, yesterday and then again today saying:

No word has come from either Daley or Black or their representatives about the reports at this stage.
