Jason Statham has admitted to Digital Spy that he has no interest in becoming a superhero, saying that he prefers “old-fashioned” films rather than the special effects driven blockbusters that have become synonymous with the superhero genre.
Besides, Statham has another very good reason for not wanting to join Team Superhero, “They’ve never offered me a part in one of those and I don’t think the shoes would fit. Or the cape wouldn’t fit!”
He went on to talk about his latest project Homefront which tells the story of former DEA agent Phil Broker (Statham) who’s quiet family life is turned upside down when he crosses paths with a group of drug traffickers, led by Morgan “Gator” Bodine (James Franco). After an altercation involving Broker’s daughter Maddy (Izabela Vidovic) and a local bully, the bully’s mother (Kate Bosworth) enlists the services of her brother Gator, and together with his gang they plot to kidnap Maddy.
“When I read it I just knew it was going to attract a lot of decent actors, the parts were fleshed-out, good and strong instead of it just being ‘here’s the hero, here’s the bad guy’. This was an actual, interesting good story.
“I liked the relationship my character Broker has with his daughter, that was new for me.”

Homefront opened across the U.S. on November 27 and is scheduled for release in the U.K on December 6.
