If a wizard, be it grey or white, gave you a lesson in manners would you pay attention? That’s certainly what the creators of Sesame Street are hoping when Gandalf himself, Sir Ian McKellen finds his way to Sesame Street this Thursday (December 12).

In a sneak peek released today (December 10) on Vine, McKellen shows the power of good manners. The clip sees McKellen attempting to enter a shop, however he is barred from entering by a puppet version of Gandalf. Echoing one of McKellen’s famous lines from The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, the Muppet informs McKellen, “You shall not pass!”.

Luckily McKellen knows the magic word (go on… have a guess) and is rewarded with admittance into the shop.

With a sneak peek like this, it will be interesting to see what else is in store on Thursday’s episode. I somehow can’t see Magneto coping well with sharing his toys, for example.

You can see McKellen in all his Gandalf glory in the latest Hobbit installment, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug when it hits cinemas this Friday (December 13).
