It has recently been announced, by Alan Horn, that Indiana Jones will not have a fifth instalment for at least another 2 to 3 years.
Despite Disney technically owning part of the Indiana Jones franchise when they bought Lucas film last year, the company was in no rush to produce another sequel. However, as we reported last week, Disney has now reached a distribution and marketing agreement regarding this particular project.
When speaking to Variety at their Dealmakers Breakfast, Horn said, “We haven’t done anything. We don’t have a story. We need a story.”
Horn also added that it wouldn’t have made sense to progress with Indiana Jones until Disney owned the full rights: “It didn’t make sense to produce the movie at Disney and then have it be distributed and marketed by Paramount”
The fourth instalment of this franchised was released back in 2008, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, after a 19 year break. Therefore, in theory, that possible 3 year wait isn’t that long at all, especially as we know that Harrison Ford would love to reprise his role as Indiana Jones.
