Marvel Finds Its Ant Man In Paul Rudd

Well, most of the big names of Marvel have gotten their own show/film, so why not Ant Man? Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon Levitt have been selected as possibilities for the role of the superhero.

According to Variety, Rudd has entered negotiations for the role.

Edgar Wright, known for his work on films such as Scott Pilgrm and Shaun of the Dead, will be heading the Ant-Man project. He will also be co-writing the script with Joe Cormish.

While Marvel had no sway over casting, it takes great pride in its most recent star. In the comic world, Henry Pym creates a concoction that allows him to change his size. Another cool effect is his ability to communicate with the residents of the insect world!

Rumors are flying around how Wright will portray the sizable hero. Some say he’ll bring in Pym’s nemesis, Scott Lang, who attempts to steal the concoction for himself. If this turns out to be true, JGL may get to stay on the production in a darker role.

Rudd’s casting as Ant-Man mirrors Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Neither are primarily known for their heroic, action roles. Rudd is more of a comedy guy, while Downey just didn’t have the right look for an action-driven hero. Downey was cast for his personality, so who knows!

Kevin Feige is set to produce Marvel’s Ant-Man.

Ant-Man is set to be released in 2015.
