Jennifer Lawrence is arguably one of Hollywood’s hottest. She’s also one of the funniest; the queen of dry humor and hilarious quotes.
This year she was one of Barbara Walters the most fascinating people of 2013. The Oscar winning actress spoke to Walters during her annual (and final) Most Fascinating People special on ABC. In the interview, Jennifer calls out the media for teaching the younger generation that it’s okay to make fun of your peers and degrade each other.
“I think when it comes to the media, the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation, on these girls who are watching these television shows, and picking up how to talk and how to be cool,” she says.
“So then all of a sudden being funny is making fun of the girl that’s wearing an ugly dress… and the word fat,” Lawrence continues. “I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. I mean, if we’re regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect they have on our younger generation, why aren’t we regulating things like calling people fat?”
Last year, Lawrence was quoted in Elle magazine saying “In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress. I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.”
