The X Factor USA finale last week was probably one of my favorites so far! There were no weird Leann Rimes duets or anything like that…which is basically all I was worried about.
Alex & Sierra, Jeff Gutt and Carlito Olivero were in the running for the top stop, but we’d have to wait until later to find out who won! First and foremost was a fantastic lineup of guest performers including Mary J. Blige, Lea Michele, One Direction, Pitbull and Kesha.

Lea sang her new single “Cannonball,” ending with a sweet little “thank you” to the crowd, while the boys of One Direction serenaded the crowd to the tune of “Midnight Memories.”

As I hoped, Alex & Sierra ended up being crowned the victors and the boyfriend-girlfriend duo had even more reason to be all mushy gushy together. Mentor Simon Cowell was obviously elated and felt American’s got it right (duh), “I feel like Christmas just came early.”
“This is incredible!” said Alex, while timid little Sierra gushed, “Thank you so much for getting us here and thanks for not making fun of my weird faces all the time.”
Now let’s hope these two fair better than previous winners Melani Armano and Tate Stevens who are all but forgotten at this point.
And of course the lovebirds sang “All I Want For Christmas Is You” as part of the finale show. Well, they definitely have each other and now they have a record contract and an exciting journey ahead!
