In the wake off all the Duck Dynasty controversy, everyone associated with the A&E smash hit seems to be in the spotlight. Ironically, the homophobic comments made by Phil Robertson hit a little closer to home than you might be aware of.
Creator and executive producer of the series, Scott Gurney is now happily married to his wife and business partner Deirdre. Back in the day? Well the former Baywatch actor and Calvin Klein model took a turn as a gay porn star in the 2001 film, The Fluffer. The film was included in the Toronto and Berlin film festivals and had a limited theatrical release.
According to Buzzfeed, “Gurney’s character in The Fluffer is gay-for-pay and a meth addict. He becomes the object of obsession for a male film student who gets a job as his on-set fluffer.”
Gurney also had roles in 7th Heaven, Cybill, Married…With Children and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch before going into the producing world. The Fluffer role is obviously taking center stage now. Since it was the homophobic remarks made by Phil Robertson that started this all in the first place.
I wonder what Phil would say about his producers role as the gay-for-pay porn star?
