Universal Studios has confirmed that the late actor, Paul Walker, will return in the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. His recent death has caused some tension in the production team, and has the writers scrambling to rewrite the script.
Because of this new development, the studio has announced that the film will be released later than scheduled. The movie will be released approximately nine months later, to give the team time to reshoot some scenes and fix some glaring plot holes.
A spokesperson from Universal Studios had this to say: “Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7, which will be released by Universal Pictures on April 10, 2015.”
This new installment will be directed by James Wan, with Vin Diesel and Neal Mortiz returning as producers.
Vin Diesel later confirmed the film’s new release date in a Facebook post on December 22. He attached a photo of one of his last scenes shot with Walker.
“There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come.”
Paul Walker, 40, died after his car crashed on November 30. His friend, Roger Rodas, was also in the car.
Catch Fast and Furious 7 in theaters April 10, 2015.
