Orange Is The New Black’s Creator Left In The Dark About Show’s Ratings

Orange is the New Black, the breakout-show of the summer that surprised viewers and pleased critics, doesn’t get any bragging rights—at least for now.

According to the show’s creator, Jenji Kohan, Netflix doesn’t give her a straight answer as to how the ratings went for her show. In an interview with The New York Times, Kohan reveals, “They say things like, ‘We’re very pleased’. They’re very cryptic.” She added, “I’m finding the dark very restful and easy on the eyes.”

Orange is the New Black is one of Netflix’s original shows that debuted over the summer. It follows Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) as she does her time in a women’s prison for crimes she committed a decade earlier. Other stars, such as Laura Prepon (That 70’s Show; Are you there, Chelsea?) and Jason Biggs (American Pie), lend a hand to Schilling to give viewers a comedic and truthful tale of spending time in prison.

The show is based on true stories from Piper Kerman and her tell-all book about her time in prison.
