News just came down the pipeline that CW is taking an official pass on the Wonder Woman pilot that was commissioned back in 2012. Network president Mark Pedowitz confirmed the news today in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Pedowitz made reference to the fact that this pilot featured “iconic characters” and when dealing with these characters, “you only get one shot before you get bit.”.
Super heroes still may have a place at the CW network, however, as they are currently airing the series Arrow, based on the character Green Arrow from DC Comics. The network is also in development to make a spinoff of the popular series based on another DC Comics character, The Flash.
This is not the first time a Wonder Woman pilot was scrapped. Back in 2011, NBC went as far as shooting the infamous pilot that featured the iconic character.
Fans of the character shouldn’t be too disheartened, however, as Wonder Woman is set to make an appearance in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.
Actress Gal Gadot will take on the role in the movie which is currently in the early stages of development and casting.
