Queen Elizabeth II has become a great-grandmother for the fourth time, as her granddaughter, Zara Phillips, has reportedly given birth to a baby girl at the Gloucester Royal Hospital.
The Olympic athlete announced her pregnancy back in July to the press outside St Mary’s Hospital while waiting for Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, to go into labor. The silver medal winning wonder woman was rather reluctant to give up her show jumping, used to being on the move everyday. However, after the three month scan, she decided to press pause on sporting events and have a go at baking instead. The couple also declined the offer to know the gender of the baby, preferring it to be a surprise.
And what an obviously delightful surprise it was! The baby girl, who has yet to be given a name, weighed in at 7lbs 12oz, a lovely, normal weight, and also enters the world at 16th in line to the throne. Her husband, former England rugby star Mike Tindall, was present at the birth. The pair have been filling the time up to the birth with shopping! Mr Tindall was reported as saying they have been very busy ‘buying stuff’ for the baby.
Congratulations to them both, and we wish them luck on their journey of parenthood.
