It appears we’re all systems go on the seventh Star Wars outing to begin filming as the script is finally complete!
Unsurprisingly, the film’s director/co-writer J.J. Abrams was questioned about the status of the highly anticipated sequel yesterday (January 19) when he appeared at the Television Critics Association’s press tour, promoting his upcoming NBC drama, Believe.
Abrams let the eager press know where production is currently at on the film. “We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep. Full steam ahead.” Though he was quite coy when asked about the length of the film, simply adding, “I promise you it will be movie length.”
It also appears that at least one of the casting rumours might potentially be true. Last week it emerged that Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons had so impressed Star Wars producers with his audition that he was set to meet with Abrams for a second audition. That meeting was expected to have taken place in the past few days. During the TCA junket, Abrams confirmed that he had spoken with Plemons saying, “He is one of the actors that we’ve talked to.”
The seventh film hasn’t even started filming yet and already Abrams was fielding questions about his further involvement in the franchise. He refused to comment on the matter only saying, “I’m just focusing on Episode 7 right now, that’s the focus.”
Fans have to wait till December 18, 2015 for Star Wars Episode VII to hit cinemas.
