It’s been a chaotic week for teenage superstar Justin Bieber, to say the least.
As we previously reported, the 19-year-old was arrested on Thursday in Miami for drag-racing in a Lamborghini after a night of partying. His blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit for the state, and a Miami Beach Police spokesperson said that he admitted to consuming prescription medication and smoking marijuana earlier in the day.
It’s the most dramatic of his erratic behaviors lately, and has only added fuel to the criticism surrounding him.
One of his sponsors, however, is staying on his side amidst the controversy.
Entertainment Wise reports that popular sports brand Adidas told TMZ, “Nothing is changing in our relationship with Mr. Bieber at this time.”
Bieber is one of the wealthiest teenage celebrities in the music industry right now, and a significant amount of his earnings stem from endorsement deals with businesses like Adidas and acne treatment brand Proactiv.
The singer’s team is presenting a united front for him.
His manager, Scooter Braun, tweeted soon after the arrest: “Been a long day. Bottom line is we are defined by how we handle adversity. Be there when it counts. Love fully in good times and bad.”
Alfredo Flores, a close friend of Bieber’s and another member of his team, added, “I’ve always been taught you don’t handle personal situations in public. You handle them privately and that’s what I will do. There’s a lot of love and support in J’s life. Thank y’all.”
Bieber is now free on bail, and he hasn’t let a little thing like a night spent in a precinct stop him from subtly broadcasting his opinion of the media on Instagram earlier today.
He posted a picture of himself sitting on top of a car and waving to his fans as he was released from police custody, coupled with a similar photo of Michael Jackson flashing the peace sign to his own adoring fans. The caption read, “What more can they say.”
