Her milkshake is renowned for bringing all the boys to the yard, but Kelis’ new album Food promises to bring something new to the table, with the singer describing it as “orchestral” and “dramatic.”
Speaking to HipHopHollywood, Kelis said, “It’s full band. It’s got a horn section, strings and an orchestra – it’s very dramatic. I’m really excited about it. I don’t rush to put albums out, so when I do I like to wallow in them a bit.”
When asked about naming the album Food, Kelis said, “We recorded in a house. It was a huge band, so people were there, and people were hungry. So we were eating, and recording, and singing, and eating some more and it was lot of that.”
She continued by saying that, “It wasn’t the plan but that’s just what it ended up being because that’s just who we are. It was really natural and it felt really good and it tasted really good too.”
The album has a British release date of April 21, and will be released the following day in the US.
