Love triangles are never a good thing, but when you’re a well-known celebrity, things can get very messy – just ask Sienna Miller. During the News of the World phone-hacking scandal lawsuit, more details have emerged about her alleged affair with actor Daniel Craig, whilst she was in a relationship with Jude Law.
On Tuesday (January 28), a London courtroom heard in-depth testimony from Dan Evans, a former employee of Andy Coulson, both previously of the News of the World newspaper. Evans has been anything but shy about his part in the phone hacking scandal, even admitting that ten coworkers, including Coulson, were fully aware that they were illegally finding private information on celebrities.
Whilst Evans is pleading guilty, Coulson and seven other coworkers are pleading their innocence, and denying all involvement with the phone hacking debacle.
This trial centers on a voicemail between Sienna Miller and Daniel Craig back in 2005. According to E!, Evans recited the alleged message left by Sienna Miller: “Hi it’s me. I can’t speak, I’m at the Groucho with Jude. I love you.”
Evans added, upon hearing the voicemail, Coulson “became very animated”.
“He held my elbow and said, ‘You are a company man now,’” said Evans.
“Coulson wanted to reserve the tape but not the original recording so he said to me, ‘Make a recording of the tape and stick it into the jiffy bag, have it sent to the front gate and have them say it has been dropped in anonymously.’”
Talk about a bad day for Jude Law! Upon hearing details of the alleged voicemail, not only did he have to give in-depth personal details of his relationship, but BBC News reported that he also learned one of his family members was paid to leak information to the press.
Law was also asked by one of the defendant’s attorneys if he had any idea that Miller was cheating on him. His response was simple, “Yes…indeed I was.” He then went into further detail about his relationship with Miller and Craig, admitting he had contacted Craig, encouraging him to come clean about the affair to his girlfriend at the time, Satsuki Mitchell.
“We had known each other many, many years, so the conversation took on all sorts of turns,” said Law.
Neither Sienna Miller nor Daniel Craig has spoken about their romantic link.
