Amanda Knox Says She Will Only Go Back To Italy Kicking And Screaming

As we earlier reported, Amanda Knox has yet again been found guilty of murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher in November 2007.

Knox has no intention of going back to Italy to serve the rest of her sentence though- she has already served 4 years and this will be taken from the 28 ½ years she has been given- saying she will fight this conviction “until the very end” and “will never go willingly” back to Italy.

Knox’s attourney, Theodore Simon, has been in contact with the family whilst they awaited the decision, stressing the affect the wrong decision from the court would have.

“It was terrible news,” he said. “She understands more than anyone that a wrongful conviction is unjust, not just for the accused but for the victim, their family, as well as society, and she feels this very personally.”

Simon also stated that it is too early to even consider Knox being extradited at the moment, as there is at least another year for the appeals process before the conviction will come into place.

Talking about the conviction, Simon said, “She was previously found innocent by another appellate court jury- not just not guilty, but actually found innocent. And that is why when we think about that and that there was no evidence back then and there is no different evidence today, why this is such a horrific miscarriage of justice.”

It does not help matters that Knox’s ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, who was also re-convicted of the crime, was found by Italian Authorities in a hotel near the border with Austria and Slovenia. Part of his sentence was to give up his travel documents in order for Sollecito to stay in the country whilst the legal process is carried out.

According to Sollecito’s lawyer, Luca Maori, he had no intent to flee the country and merely stopped on the way to his girlfriend’s house due to snow being too thick to carry on.

Currently, Sollecito is being detained in Northern Italy and Knox will be fighting to squash the conviction with the appeal she will receive before extradition. Stay tuned as PopWrapped will continue to update on the issue.
