The Super Bowl has a little something to offer for all audiences. If you’re anything like me, the main reasons to watch the game (besides rooting for your favorite team of course) are: to enjoy the performers; to laugh at those candid camera moments with celebrities; and of course, those very expensive commercials. Football aside, let’s take a look at just what transpired at Super Bowl XLVIII – and, as usual, there’s plenty to talk about.
Super Bowl commercials have become as famous as the game itself. Budweiser’s “Puppy Love” ad, featuring an unlikely friendship between a truly adorable puppy and a horse, was just too cute with its “BestBuds” hashtag, and was one of the most talked about commercials of the night.

Seinfeld alumni Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Wayne Knight reunited for the ComediansInCarsGettingCoffee.com segment (click here to watch), whilst Ellen DeGeneres mixed the traditional Goldilocks and The Three Bears story up and danced around her living room to advertise Beats Music (click here to watch).
“The 80s called… they want their store back” was the crucial line from Radio Shack’s commercial, as a bunch of 80s characters and celebrities emptied the store. The technology store poked fun at itself as it used this ad to promote its modernization.

Film fans were also treated to a new extended preview for the action packed Amazing Spider-Man 2, set to hit cinemas in May.
Super Bowl is always ideal for celeb spotting. We managed to catch a glimpse of an unhappy Eli Manning, glumly watching his brother’s team miss out on the Lombardi Cup, whilst soccer royalty David Beckham was also spotted in the crowd. Not all of the attention was good however, with NFL legend Joe Namath attracting a lot of negative attention when he wore a fur coat for the opening coin toss.
During the half-time performance, Bruno Mars burst into his performance with a thunderous drum solo, before singing his hits “Locked Out Of Heaven” and “Treasure”. Vocally excellent, Bruno also showed off his dancing skills with some phenomenal footwork and even launched masterfully into the splits. The half-time show also featured the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who performed one of their biggest hits, “Give It Away”. RHCP front man Anthony Kiedis showed that even at 51, he could still rock out, owning the stage amongst Bruno Mars’ backup singers. The rock performance was followed by some very touching clips from the brave men and women serving in the US military, many of whom dedicated Bruno Mars’ final song, “Just The Way You Are”, to their loved ones at home.
Super Bowl 48 may not have been the nail-biting football game that fans were hoping for, but when it comes to commercials, celebrities and performances, there was certainly plenty to talk about.
