Sad news for August: Osage Country star Julia Roberts – her half sister, Nancy Motes, 37, has died after an apparent drug overdose.
The news comes from an official statement via People: “It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes…confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose. There is no official report from the Coroner’s office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated.”
Motes was the youngest sister of Julia and Eric Roberts.
In the past, Nancy was candid about her less-than-perfect relationship with Julia, claiming that the Academy Award-winning star often mocked her younger sister for her weight. After undergoing gastric bypass surgery in 2010, Nancy had hoped that it would resolve their issues, but their relationship never improved.
