Three people have been safely rescued from a Busch Gardens roller coaster, but 13 riders are still trapped on the ride as of this afternoon, a Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman said.
Personnel on a Busch Gardens bucket truck and a Tampa Fire Rescue ladder truck are working to retrieve the 13 riders who remain on the roller coaster, Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny told NBC 6 South Florida.
“There’s been no indication that anybody is in any sort of distress or anything, other than having to sit there,” Penny added.
A theme park spokesman said that the riders stuck on the Cheetah Hunt roller coaster are all doing well.
Busch Gardens spokesperson Travis Claytor told NBC News that “the ride malfunctioned near the loading station.”
Busch Gardens’ website describes the Cheetah Hunt as a triple-launch roller coaster that extends for 4,400 feet. It is Busch Gardens’ longest thrill ride attraction.
