Less than a year ago, the Veronica Mars movie was just a Kickstarter project. Now, a clip from the finished movie has been released and it even has its own Entertainment Weekly cover!
Kickstarter is a website where people can promote their projects, and people can contribute cash to help make ideas reality, and it was the platform that creator Rob Thomas used to make the Veronica Mars movie happen. Thomas sent out an email on Kickstarter saying, “That’s right: ten years after Veronica Mars first appeared on television, and eight years after getting canceled, we’ve finally landed the cover story in Entertainment Weekly.”
Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring grace the Entertainment Weekly cover and talk about the long journey that brought the TV series to the big screen. Thanks to thousands of hardcore fans, the Kickstarter project was able to raise $5.7 million to revive the TV series that was canceled by The CW back in 2007.
Rob Thomas is hoping for some success at the box office, but the fact that this project came together is exciting enough. The franchise will also live on through a series of novels, with the first one set to hit shelves in March. There’s even potential for future movies, as well as another TV series!
Will you be seeing the movie when it hits theatres on March 14? Let us know!
Until then, you can watch the clip from the movie HERE!
