Since releasing its latest trailer, Guardians of the Galaxy has continued to make major waves in the cinematic world. But an unexpected side effect of said trailer has come to light: sales of its featured song, “Hooked On a Feeling” by late-70s Swedish rock band Blue Swede, have rocketed to new heights since being introduced to a whole new generation of fans.

Having sold over 2,000 digital copies on Wednesday, February 19th alone, reported sales of the single have increased by more than 700% since being featured alongside Chris Pratt (AKA Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord) and his fellow quirky would-be heroes (who range from an anthropomorphic raccoon with a penchant for explosives to a brutish, sentient tree). The trailer was unveiled during Jimmy Kimmel Live at 11:35 PM Tuesday, February 18th.

Before providing background to the cast’s introduction in the trailer, online sales of “Hooked On a Feeling” had peaked in 2008, having sold roughly 1,000 digital downloads during the week of March 16th.
