A truly sad day for comedy lovers. The legendary Harold Ramis has died at the age of 69. The Chicago Tribune reports that Ramis died at 12:53 a.m. in Chicago from a disease of the blood vessel. Known as autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a condition that had been affecting his health since 2010.

Ramis was perhaps best known for his role as the bespectacled Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters, but it was his work as a writer and director that impacted his audience. Ramis was also involved in writing for Ghostbusters, and was involved in writing and directing a string of other comedy hits including “Groundhog Day,” “Analyze This,” “Stripes,” “Caddyshack,” “Meatballs,” “Animal House,” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation.” He was also involved in TV as a writer for “SCTV,” and a director for “The Office.”

Which of Ramis’s work made you laugh the most? Let us know in the comments!
