Sometimes, just sometimes, celebrities do the most wonderful things for their fans, and they truly warm your heart.

Matt Smith has certainly managed to warm a few hearts with his video message to one of Doctor Who‘s greatest fans, four-year-old Jack Robinson. According to the Portsmouth News, Jack, who is from Denmead, England, has an inoperable brain tumour. Having been diagnosed last month, those closest to Jack have tried to make as many of his wishes come true as possible.

Matt Smith, who bowed out of his tenure as Time Lord at Christmas, sent a beautifully personal video to Jack. You can’t help but smile at the beautiful sincerity of the video, which opens with Smith singing the legendary Doctor Who theme song.

After the theme tune, Smith goes on to say:

“JACK! Hello! Matt Smith here. Listen, I am in Austin, in Texas, but I wanted to say hello, because I hear you’re the biggest fan of Doctor Who in the whole wide world.”

After some sweet moments of hellos and friendly waving, Smith apologises for not being able to see Jack in person, but goes on to promise that he will try to see Jack as soon as he returns to England. He continues by saying that he will be coming round to check on Jack’s Doctor Who knowledge when he gets back, though he admits he does “hear he’s the biggest fan ever.”

Smith tells Jack to “keep enjoying Doctor Who,” and says he will try and send the young fan some goodies–something sure to put a big smile on Jack’s face.

If Matt Smith hasn’t had you crying by this point of the video, he’s almost sure to have you in tears as he finishes with, “I’m thinking of you mate, lots of love” and blowing a kiss into the camera.

Jack’s family spoke of his reaction to the video from his favourite star. His father, Terry Robinson, said, “Jack was over the moon. Gary Barlow tweeted he had a message from Matt Smith, but we didn’t expect this, thank you Gary.”

He continued to say, “And thank you to Darren Langford, a well-wisher, who said he had also been in contact with Matt. Not sure which person he responded to, but we are grateful that he has.”

He finished by telling the newspaper of the first time Jack saw the video from Matt Smith:

“Jack had gone to sleep, but we woke him up to show him the message. His eyes just lit up and he was so delighted. It has made his day.”

Whilst this video truly affirms Matt Smith’s position as a great guy, our thoughts and love go to Jack himself, and we hope very much that the rest of his wishes are coming true, too.
