The Verge is reporting some new updates to Windows Phone 8.1.
In response to Apple’s Siri, Microsoft is introducing its own version; say hello to Cortana.
Named after a character from the Halo game franchise, Cortana will be a virtual aid to the Windows Phone.
With access to data on your phone from contacts, locations, reminders, and personal information, Cortana stores and compiles this information in a Notebook system to aid in learning about the user. Bing and Foursquare are just some of the services offering up data to the new Windows system, which seems to have some of the same features and capabilities of Google Now—flight trackers, email mentions, and various other notifications.
No word yet on whether the name will stay in the official version, but Cortana is expected to be debuted at the upcoming Build Conference in San Francisco on April 1st.
Only time will tell if Siri will throw more shade or if Cortana will even come with that feature.
Who do you choose? Siri or Cortana?
