News of the Jimi Hendrix biopic was first released in 2012, and it was soon revealed that Andre 3000 from Outkast was going to portray the legendary singer. Everyone seemed to agree that Andre and Jimi shared similar features, but as we can see from the first clip of the movie, Andre has Jimi’s voice and mannerisms nailed. Check out the clip below as Andre’s Jimi chats up Imogen Poots’ Linda Keith.
The 80 second clip from the biopic was released today ahead of the first screening of the film at the South By South West Festival. The film is set to screen March 12 at 9pm.
All Is By My Side documents the year before Jimi Hendrix became the famed Jimi Hendrix we know today. The film was written and directed by John Ridley, who just won the Oscar for writing 12 Years A Slave.
All Is By My Side is set to open August 8th in the U.K., with no release date set for the U.S. as of yet.
