Aaron Carter has professed that Hilary Duff is the love of his life, making us wonder if we’ve time traveled back to 2000 when they were actually a thing?
Carter, 26, retweeted a picture of Duff on his Twitter timeline on March 4 (Tuesday), with the caption “Hilary Duff is flawless.”
Courtesy of @yoteens/ TwitterCarter then tweeted, “Don’t be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me…” He added, “I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don’t care what ANY of you think.”
When a fan tweeted him with, “please tell me you’re talking about Hilary Duff,” Carter responded with, “sure am.”
And he didn’t stop there.
“That tweet just gave me an anxiety attack.” He later explained to another fan that he had an epiphany, and wonders when he became a “simp to these stupid people who have no idea who I am and/or what I’ve been through.”
“At least I’m real and don’t hide behind the persona of being a celebrity and an entertainer, and try to portray positive feelings all the time,” he tweeted.
You have to appreciate his honesty.
Duff hasn’t responded to the recent tweets, and hasn’t in the past when Carter has mentioned the former Disney star. The two started dating on Aaron’s 13th birthday and were together for about a year and a half, until Lindsey Lohan came into the picture, causing a messy love triangle for young Hollywood.
In a 2006 interview with The Big Idea, Aaron said that, after dating Duff for awhile, he just got bored, “So I went and I started getting to know Lindsey.”
It looks like we’ll all just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
