Production on Fast & Furious 7 has been on hiatus since Paul Walker tragically died in a single car crash Thanksgiving weekend of 2013. Since that tragic weekend director James Wan, writer Chris Morgan, and producer Neal Moritz have been trying to rework the film’s narrative.
At the time of Walker’s death only half of his scenes had been filmed for the new movie. The creative team has also opted to not kill off Walker’s character and instead phase him out of the film.
Universal has pushed back the release of Fast & Furious 7 from July 2014 to April 2015. If the film resumes production in April it will likely film for a few months, leaving approximately nine to ten months for post-production and marketing.
Much love and support came from fans after Walker’s death, which is expected to translate into more interest in the franchise.
