Any Sherlockian will tell you that Sherlock is a fandom we love to hate. Meaning we love the show, but we hate the wait. Unfortunately, that factor will most likely not be changing anytime soon.

On Tuesday night at a Sherlock event held by the Royal Television Society in London, Steven Moffatt and Mark Gatiss hinted that the hit show could possibly be delayed until 2016. Since the show’s genesis in 2010, the show has been on hiatus in two year increments, the most recent season ending earlier this year.

The main reason behind the long waits comes from the show’s two main stars’ increasing popularity. Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) has a reoccurring role in The Hobbit series alongside Martin Freeman (John Watson) who also has a reoccurring role in The Hobbit series as the main character Bilbo.

While we might be waiting quite some time for our new season, we do have some hints on what it might have in store for us. Hypable reported Sherlock creators as saying,  “the show is likely to see increased roles for female characters Molly Hooper (Louise Brealey) and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs).”

As always, the facts are unclear and no set date has been made. Keep up with PopWrapped for the latest news on Sherlock!
