Get a first look at The Flash’s new costume, in a full length photo released today by the CW!
Filming of the show’s pilot episode started this month, which will explore the world of Barry Allen and his superhero alter ego, “The Flash,” so it was only a matter of time before we got a sneak peek at his new look.

Viewers of Arrow will already be familiar with Barry Allen, who was introduced into the show’s two part finale last December to great reception from fans. The upcoming pilot will exist within the same universe. Allen is a Central City assistant forensic investigator who receives his powers in a freak accident caused by a lightning strike which transforms him into the fastest man alive.  The show will explore his origins further.

The first image released showed just a profile shot of Allen, so this is the first time that we’ve gotten a look at his full outfit, and it’s not disappointing! While modernised, it does still hark back to the original comic book character, complete with lightning bolts, and will no doubt have Flash fans bouncing around their rooms. The costume was designed by Academy Award winning costume designer Colleen Atwood, perhaps best known for her work on Chicago, Sweeny Todd, and fellow superhero story Arrow.

For fans of the original 90’s series, the first Barry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) has joined the cast of the modern version in an as yet unknown role. His character is set to become a recurring presence should a full series enter production.

Pilot director and executive producer David Nutter said, “I hope the fans who treasure the character are as excited as we are by what costume designer Colleen Atwood has achieved with this latest version of The Flash’s iconic suit.”
