Yes, Target, nothing makes us want to buy a bikini more than when our vagina disappears while wearing it.
The Photoshop fail, first exposed by blogilates.com, has women, skinny and curvy alike, outraged.
Why are the already beautiful models being Photoshopped to such an extent that half of their arms and lady bits are vanishing?
A plus-size model, Robyn Lawley, says, “The truth is I couldn’t care less about needing a supposed thigh gap. It’s just another tool of manipulation that other people are trying to use to keep me from loving my body.”
The message Target sends with “the model in the photo wasn’t thin enough to sell our clothing, so we manipulated her body just to sell that bikini”, is EXACTLY what women don’t want to hear.
Today we women know that we are beautiful. Whether it’s beautiful skinny or beautiful fat–in the end, it’s beautiful me.
Having apologized for the photo, we hope that the fueled debate may have an impact on Target’s marketing strategy!
But what we can all agree on is that they were way off target this time round!
