Acting is acting whether sublime or ridiculous, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has proven his commitment to the craft by going the extra mile to flawlessly re-create the famous David After Dentist YouTube video.
The Don Jon and Dark Knight Rises star played David in a spoof trailer for Jimmy Kimmel Live which turned viral videos into Hollywood Blockbusters. Even though the trailer only used a few lines from the original video, the actor took it upon himself to also do his own exact duplication of “David After Dentist,” memorizing all of David’s dialogue, actions, and timing without the aid of cue cards or playback of the original.
Gordon-Levitt said about the decision, “I really wanted to just act out that whole scene, because I’ve always found it to be a brilliant distillation of the psychedelic experience.”
