Apparently all you have to do to get someone to do a task for you is play Justin Bieber music! A Washington state high school played Bieber’s song “Baby” on a loop until they were able to raise $500 for charity.

Tenino High School’s torture–I mean idea–came from student government president Connor Stakelin, who wanted to raise the money for orphans in Ghana. Tenino High has a sister school, Crossover International Academy, located in Ghana where all of the money is being donated.

The song “Baby” was played during lunch and in between classes until their $500 goal was met. Luckily for the students the verse that was being used also features Ludacris. Although this isn’t the first time that Bieber’s music has been used to…persuade students and faculty to donate as much money as they can. A high school in Illinois used the same methods to raise $1000 to support local arts!

One of the school’s teachers, Geraldine Maxfield, said to the Seattle Times, “”The whole idea is all in good fun, and helps the students think globally.” The school president explained to his local news, ” For some [students] it’s an incentive to donate because they don’t want to hear [“Baby”] anymore.”

Can you blame them?

A student for Tenino was definitely relieved that their goal had been met, and Bieber was no longer haunting the hallways, “My head is about to explode right now,” student Zack Chamberlain told the station Monday afternoon. “I’m pretty sure I’ve had five ibuprofen already.”

Their $500 goal was almost doubled; they raised $900 by Tuesday. Who would have thought that Justin Bieber was not the worst case scenario? If the student vote had gone differently, Rebecca Black’s “Friday” would have haunted the school population. Shudder! It seems like the students were in a lose-lose situation! Thankfully they are now Bieber free! You have to admire their determination to raise the money for such a good cause!

Would you have used Bieber’s music, or would you have picked something different? Let us know in the comments!
