Just when we thought Miley couldn’t expand her brand any further, she teams up with psychedelic rock band Flaming Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne to cover the Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”
The news of the two joining forces was shared via Instagram, first with Wayne Coyne posting a picture of Miley rolling a joint and three days later another picture, captioned, “Miley in the studio vomiting diamonds while singing Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” He has also revealed that Andrew VanWyngarden from MGMT will be featured on the record, “If you’re a Beatles and John Lennon freak you gonna love love love this track!! Got Andrew from MGMT too!!!!”
The Flaming Lips members Wayne and Steven Drozd paired up with Miley on her Bangers tour and performed, “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots”. They seem to have the crowd’s appreciation which can only mean great things for this record.
Love or hate her, Miley is a talented musician who takes major risks, but taking on one of the most legendary songs of all time may be one of her biggest gambles yet.
