The new trailer for Maleficent is here, and it gives a look into why the dark queen no longer flies.
The two-minute trailer shows the evil queen long before Princess Aurora was born. The princess, played by Ellie Fanning, can be heard asking Maleficent why she didn’t fly like the other fairies. The queen eerily replies, “I had wings once. They were strong…they were stolen from me. “
What follows seems to be flashbacks of Maleficent’s life when her wings were still her own. We also get a glimpse of the infamous battle scene in which “those who live in the shadows” are called to fight alongside the evil queen.
The queen is also seen befriending the princess that she cursed at birth. Does that mean we’ve had the story wrong all along, or is that newfound friendship just part of her evil plan?
