It’s been thirty years (yes, really thirty) since Footloose quite literally danced its way onto our screens, featuring a very young, and very light-footed Kevin Bacon.

To commemorate the anniversary of the movie, 55-year-old Bacon, who can now be seen in TV series The Following, made a very memorable appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.

Before Bacon is introduced, Fallon announces, reading from a scroll, that dancing has been banned on The Tonight Show – obviously mimicking the plot of the 80s classic, in which dancing is banned in a small town.

As the audience boo, the camera cuts to a confused-looking Kevin Bacon, still backstage.

“Jump back,” said Bacon, “This is The Tonight Show, there has to be dancing.”

And, in true Footloose style, Bacon breaks out the moves, many of which were part of the routine performed in the 1984 teen movie. A group of women join him as he dances euphorically onto the stage, with confetti falling.

Fallon joined Bacon on stage, announcing, “Dancing is now legal on The Tonight Show, thanks to Kevin Bacon!” to the cheers and delight of a very entertained studio audience.
