The Flaming Lips’ obsession for Pink Floyd is no secret, and now its been taken to creative heights.
The Flaming Lips released a track-for-track remake of Pink Floyd’s 1973 album, Dark Side of the Moon in 2009. But that wasn’t enough, and now the band has announced the release of “Flaming Side of the Moon.” This new album has been described as an “immersive companion piece” designed to play alongside the original album. The album can be played with The Wizard of Oz (1937).
A press release on Saturday gave more details, “Listeners are encouraged to listen to the new Lips album while listening to Dark Side of the Moon at the same time.” For the ultimate listening experience, download the original Alan Parsons-engineered quadraphonic LP mix of Dark Side, and listen to it alongside the original album.
There were rumour’s this may be an early April Fool’s Day prank, but the album has officially been released! Listen to the new album right here!
