Jessie J recently threw herself back into the spotlight when she came out as being straight.
Jessie J had stated before that she was a bisexual person in an interview with The Telegraph back in 2011. She said she had “been with boys and … with girls.” She even went to the lengths to share her sexuality with a crowd at one of her concerts in U.K.
Now, she has clarified these matters, and now has a deleted tweet she probably regrets on her record.
In an interview with the Mirror Jessie J stated, “For me, it was a phase. But I’m not saying bisexuality is a phase for everybody. I feel that if I continue my career not speaking on it, I almost feel more of a liar than if I didn’t. I just want to be honest.”
Her now deleted tweets were attempting to clarify her interview, but obviously caused some unrest:
“Remember the thing that you tried/did back in the day. The phase you had? That is so not YOU anymore?! And you look back and think wow how I’ve changed.”
Another one of her tweets said, “[People] can change. As they should. And I have changed and grown up ALOT, and that’s allowed. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now than ever before. We all are on a journey and I refuse to feel boxed and judged because of how I felt once!”
She even posted a lengthy twitlonger, which you can read here.
What are your thoughts on the whole situation? Do you feel like she is just stirring up drama to promote album sales? Or, is she simply being true to her fans? Was the time in her life where she considered herself bisexual really a phase?
So many lingering questions! Let us know your thoughts.
Most of the reactions on twitter are pretty negative, to put it nicely. Here is one fan’s reaction to the news:
