It’s been 4 years since How To Train Your Dragon hit the big screen and now DreamWorks is gearing up once more to fly Toothless and company back into cinemas this summer. A brand new poster has just been dropped for what is already described in the official synopsis as the “second chapter” in a trilogy. Along with the poster, the new trailer takes us five years after Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and Vikings on the island of Berk.

We find out that in the mean time the inseparable pair has been flying around charting previously unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. One of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave which is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider. Soon the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace in Berk and stand up for what they believe in. The duo must recognize that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.

Dean DeBlois is at the wheel once more, directing his own script which is loosely based on the original series of books by Cressida Cowell. Jay Baruchel is back at the top of the voice cast along with Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, and Kristen Wiig. As if there wasn’t enough star power,Kit Harington, Cate Blanchett, and Djimon Hounsou are coming on board for the sequel.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be released in both 3D and 2D on June 13th in the US and July 4th in the UK. Until then, here’s the latest trailer to get you in the mood. Enjoy!
