Benedict Cumberbatch won’t be a Timelord or a Sith Lord anytime soon.

Known best for his turn as the titular super sleuth in the BBC’s Sherlock, the Brit debunked any hopes that he might appear in Doctor Who at Oz Comic Con this morning.

“I’m never gonna play the Doctor – and nothing to do with the Whoniverse,” said the actor.

According to RadioTimes, many fans of the sci-fi show hoped that Cumberbatch would take a turn at flying the Tardis or play the Doctor’s infamous adversary the Master. With Stephen Moffat as the Doctor Who showrunner and Sherlock co-creator, it seemed plausible that the actor could make the jump from solving crimes to gallivanting through all of time and space.

Cumberbatch also dispelled rumors connecting him with JJ Abrams new Stars Wars film.

“I would’ve liked a part in JJ’s new Star Wars but it won’t happen, sadly,” said the Brit, reported by The Iris.

Too bad Cumbercollective, Benedict would have made a deliciously evil member of the Sith.

But don’t despair, Cumberbatch will grace the silver screen this year as mathematician Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, and is set to return to the stage as Hamlet at the Barbican in 2015.
